3 To make て -form, you need to... 1.Look at the letter in front of ます 2.Identify which group the verb is belonged to 1.Look at the letter in front of ます 2.Identify which group the verb is belonged to

4 Look at the letter in front of ます If there is え sound (You can also write the verb in Roma-ji to see if they have “ e ” right before “ masu ” )  Simply take off ます and put て in the end. (Type II verb) Examples: たべます  たべて みせます  みせて あけます  あけて ねます  ねて If there is い sound (You can also write the verb in Roma-ji to see if they have “ i ” right before “ masu ” )  Either Regular verb (Type I verb) or Special verb (Type II verbs, きます =come, or いきます =go) If there is え sound (You can also write the verb in Roma-ji to see if they have “ e ” right before “ masu ” )  Simply take off ます and put て in the end.
