English is mainly used, if necessary. ※ 英語で先に説明をしてみます Significant items are explained in Japanese as well ※ 重要な項目は日本語でも反復します

2 Review of the 1st lecture ※ 第１回の授業の復習を書きます
You do not use the old technology anymore. The history of the Internet is meaningless unless you can learn lessons from them. ※ インターネットの歴史を学んでも、それは直接に諸君の現在の生活に役に立ちません。しかし歴史に学ぶべき教訓があります

The number of computers was small. Computers were main frame machines. Personal computers and workstations appeared later in 1980’s. ※ そもそもコンピュータの台数が少い 当時のコンピュータは大型機、メインフレームであった ワークステーション、パソコンは後に登場

11 Exercise (based on the textbook)
Q: Many people start new business firms in the US, especially in Silicon Valley area. You can see many new enterprises there. However, nobody started a new business which utilized the Internet in 1980’s. Why? ☆ One additional episode in explained in the class. It is not explained in this slide. ※ 重要な事項でも口頭だけで説明する場合があります。（授業の出席者を優遇）

12 Questions raised by students
Is there any appropriate textbook in English which replaces the Japanese textbook shown in the class? ※ 授業で使うテキストの英語版がありますか？ No, the textbook does not cover the standard introductory material. It deals with serious issues of the current Internet. There is no English textbook which covers the same topics. ※　残念。ありません。このテキストは普通の入門書ではなくて、現在のインターネットの問題点、課題を解説しています。類書がないのです。
