Physics Options の部分は他とかなり異なる Snowmass のまとめそのまま = 個々の option 毎に 今までの Study 結果 + "What Is Necessary" List + To Do List あるまとまった Configuration(s) を提示したもの ではない Telnov さんが1人で孤軍奮闘してまとめを 作った (Telnov さんに感謝 ) 今日は上のリストを紹介しつつ、もしその option を採用 する場合に全体設計に大きく影響する部分について注意 を喚起する はそれなりに充実しているが他は Wish List に近い
What is necessary (preferable) for ( e) Option geometric e - e - luminosity as large as possible. e - e - beams (not e + e - ) z =0.3 mm (better for beam disruption) b-to-b = 337 ns (better for laser cavity) 2 IRs (one for which have large x-angle) DR which gives smaller product of horizontal and vertical emittances. (flat beam is not necessary) large x-angle (>20 mrad, >25 mrad is preferable) コンパチな detector (θ=100 m rad は穴) beam dump line
What is necessary (preferable) for e - e - Option e - e - beams (not e + e - ) dedicated final focus system is preferabe L e - e - = 0.2 x L e + e - due to beam repulsion e + e - final focus system can be used L e - e - = 0.1 x L e + e - due to beam repulsion beam dump line (beam repulsion を考慮 ) e - e - コンパチな detector (beam repulsion を考慮 )
What is necessary (preferable) for GigaZ Option low energy beam linac operation is OK (by Kubo-san) undulator source : transfer lines and complicate operation is necessary Compton source is OK. e + polarization (for physics) for detector calibration e+ pol. is not necesasary. conventional source is OK
What is necessary (preferable) for fixed target Option experimental hall & beam line beam line (extraction line) which allow compatible operation with running of collision experiments. fixed target experiments should not increase background to collision experiments beam line (extraction line) with small background. (collision に使用した後の beam を使う)
Enhancement of cross section in SUSY CTEQ6L Sub-process e - q →τ - q is proportional to the down-type quark mass. Probability for the b-quark is larger for higher energies. For Ee > 60 GeV, the total cross section is enhanced due to the b-quark sub-process Ee = 50 GeV fb 100 GeV fb 250 GeV fb Higgs mediated LFV process
大森のコメント (1) 個々の option を推す人たちは、物理の意義と実現可能性 ( この段階ではコスト等の現実的要素は棚上げしても良い と思う ) を community に説得力のある形で ( あらためて ) 提示する必要がある。 (2) 実現可能性が明らかになった場合は、 community 全体で 物理の意義とコスト等を秤にかけてその option をどのよう にプロジェクトに取り入れるか(入れないか)の議論をす る。
