An Introduction to Public Health in Canada: Concepts and Issues Course Description: The seminar will introduce students to key concepts and issues in public health in Canada. After providing a brief history of public health in Canada, students will learn about the significance of the Population Health Approach and The (Social) Determinants of Health　(SDoH). At the end of the seminar, students will: Define and understand the significance of key concepts and issues in the Canadian public health system; Prepare a short presentation on a key public health concept and /or newspaper article; and Feel confident to discuss their learning and public health-related experiences based in their home country and Canada.
