8 Phone numbers Another use of the の　(no) particle we used last time is to say phone numbers. In response to the question: でんわばんごう　は　なん　です　か。 (denwabangoo wa nan desu ka) You could say: にさんろく　の　よんごいち　の　はちれいきゅうなな 236 – 451 – 8097

Directions: A asks “what is your phone number”, B responds. (similar to the pair work model). Then switch roles. Ex. A: Yamashitaさん　の　でんわばんごう　は　なんです　か。 B: にはちさん　の　きゅうごよんなな　です。 Try 1 – 4, then try asking your partner.

11 Quick note on の ハンター（はんたあ）だいがく の がくせい です
ハンター（はんたあ）だいがく　の　がくせい　です I am Hunter College’s student (I am a student of Hunter) The translation is up to you, but the の attaches itself to the possessive. The order DOES matter. If it was がくせい　の　ハンターだいがく　です, it would be translated as: The students’ Hunter College (the Hunter College of the students)
