Remains of Japanese War Casualties During WWⅡ Any information of the remains are highly appreciated When we review the devastation during World War II in Guam, everyone shall be overwhelmed by the scale of the damages it has inflicted upon all those involved. Especially, no one can ever neglect the tremendous sacrifice forced upon the local Chamorro people during the Japanese Military rule and during the battle between Japan and the United States. The casualties that the Japanese side had to pay was also extreme, losing about 20,000 lives as a consequence of the fierce combats and the starvation that followed until the end of the war, of these approximately 19,500 remains have not been repatriated to their homeland. Japan Association for Recovery and Repatriation of War Casualties (JARRWC), under the initiative of the Government of Guam and the Japanese Government, aim to repatriate the unfound remains of Japanese war casualties. It is also the wish of the war bereaved family and mission for the Japanese Government and people who lives today.
